Leadership

Robert G. Bayersdorfer is the principal of Optimus Fundraising. He brings more than 30 years of diversified experience in the development field and has assisted organizations in the United States, Canada and Europe to successfully meet their fundraising objectives. He has assisted clients in meeting fundraising goals ranging from $2 million to $50 million and more.

Robert gained his extensive experience in not-for-profit fundraising as an executive for more than 20 years with the nation’s largest fundraising consulting company. He spent the first ten years of his career with the company as a Campaign Executive Director, successfully managing capital/endowment campaigns and feasibility studies for clients across the not-for-profit sector. Robert subsequently served more than a decade as a regional Vice President overseeing a team of fundraising professionals and managing all of the company’s work in the northwestern United States and western Canada.

Robert has worked with a broad range of organizations and institutions, including universities and colleges; secondary and primary schools; community hospitals and regional medical centers; arts and cultural institutions; human service organizations; environmental and conservation organizations; churches and faith-based organizations; and not-for-profit professional and trade associations. With each client served, Robert has advised and closely collaborated with organizational leaders and staff, board members, key volunteers and other constituents to strategically plan, implement and manage major fundraising campaigns and development initiatives to reach both short- and long-term funding needs.

Robert founded Optimus Fundraising in 2009 to bring his significant experience and broad-based knowledge of fundraising to not-for-profit organizations seeking a more personalized, hands-on approach in their consulting partners. He is skilled in quickly understanding the people, culture and vision of an organization and customizing an approach that focuses on fundraising principles and best practices to maximize organizational potential.

Robert is a graduate of St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. Originally from New York, he currently resides with his wife and two children in Seattle, Washington.
